Three Men Bag Death Sentence For Stripping Woman Naked in Kenya

Three Kenya men who stripped a woman naked and robbed her in a Githurai-bound bus in December 2014 have been sentenced to death.

The trio were arraigned before a magistrate court in Nairobi presided over by Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.

The bus driver Nicholas Mwangi, conductor Meshack Mwangi and a filling station attendant Edward Ndung’u were convicted of robbery with violence and assault, Daily Nation reported.

They were handed another sentence of 25 years for stripping and sexually assaulting the woman. But the jail term was suspended as the trio had already been handed the death penalty.

The incident which was filmed three years ago and posted on Social media, sparked a wide protest with the hastag #MyDressMyChoice.

The chief magistrate, in his judgement said that the accused persons engaged in a "senseless and uncouth act that they seemed to enjoy because they were cheering as they stripped the woman."

Due to Kenya's law on death sentences, they will have to spend the rest of their lives in Jail.
