Eight People Killed As Wall Collapses in Senegal's Demba Diop Stadium

Eight People are dead and at least 60 others seriously injured after a wall collapsed in Senegal's Demba Diop Stadium in Dakar on Saturday.

The stampede occurred while rival football club supporters clashed during a League Cup final between Stade de Mbour and Union Sportive Ouakam.

The score which was at 1-1 after 90 minutes became 2 - 1 after Mbour team scored in the first period of extra time, leading to a fight between fans of each club.

At the scene were belongings covered in blood, with a pair of glasses and clothing strewn among broken pieces of concrete, AFP reports.

The country's president, Macky Sall said the upcoming elections on July 30 would be suspended as a mark of respect, adding that there would be "punishments to serve as a warning".
