Two Drug Smugglers Caught With Heroin, Tramadol At Lagos Airport

Two drug traffickers have been arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while trying to export drugs out of the country. 

One of the suspects, Joseph Oparaji Okechukwu, 59, said he was a contractor and blamed Nigeria's economic recession and the 'devil' for luring him into trafficking hard drugs. 

The other suspect, Austine Ikenna Nnaji, 41, identified himself as a safety officer in Qatar. 

Mr. Nnaji denied having any idea of the drugs in his luggage, as he claimed to have received it from a friend.

Mr. Okechukwu who was on his way to new york via Turkish Airlines, excreted 1.105 kg of brownish substances that tested positive for heroin.

On the Other hand, Mr. Nnaji was found to have concealed 11.540 kg of marijuana and 490 grams of Tramadol in his luggage on his way to Doha, Qatar.

A spokesman for the NDLEA said officials of the narcotics are investigating the suspects.
