Man's Corpse Exhumed For Refusing To Do Community Service While Alive

Residents of Assin Dansame in the Central Region, Ghana watched in astonishment after a Chief ordered a man's dead body to be pulled out from the ground for refusing to participate in community labour while he was alive.

The corpse of Koo Emma was exhumed on Monday June 26th by some youths who acted on the orders of the Chief.

Residents in the area said there has been a dispute between the chief and Asona family in Assin Dansame, which may have been the reason the body was removed.

Nana Okufo Twum Beriama IV, the Chief who claimed ownership of the land where Emma was buried said he warned the deceased several times, but his words turned to deaf ears.

He added that Emma also refused to pay a fine of GHC500, hence his decision.

The body was moved to the community centre and has reportedly left many terrified, with some complaining that there might be 'spiritual attacks'
