Video & Photos of Qatar's First Air Conditioned Khalifa International Stadium in Doha - World 2022 Venue

Qatar has completed the venue for its upcoming 2022 world cup five years ahead of the stipulated time.

The Khalifa International Stadium in Doha which gulped £70million would contain at least 40,000 spectators, Daily Mail reported.

The fully air conditioned international stadium was first built in 1976 and is set to officially open on Friday, May 19th, 2017 for the Emir Cup Final between Al Sadd and Al Rayyan.

Officials said the cooling temperature would be between 24 - 28 degrees while keeping the pitch at 26-degree celsius.

Some changes effected at the stadium include changing rooms, VIP lounges, sports museum and also roofing which covers the seats.

The venue would also be home to the 2019 world athletics championship

Qatar 2022 Organising Committee member, Nasser Al Khater, while speaking to Aljazeera said "It's a great pride and historic moment for all of us and we're proud that Khalifa is the first of the stadiums being a stadium that we all know very well and it's dear to our hearts"
