PICTURES: Evicted Otodo Gbame Residents Storm Lagos High Court in Protest As Ambode Wins

More than 1,000 of the 4,700 displaced persons evicted from #OtodoGbame on Sunday were at the federal high court in Lagos today to hear the ruling of the judge presiding over the case.

Simon Ateba, who was at the court said the sitting judge, Justice S. A. Onigbangbo could not convict governor Ambode because 'he enjoys immunity'.;

"These are the victims of bad governance whose houses have been crushed. The big thieves in palaces and corrupt judges are the ones deciding their case and claiming that they are criminals and militants and killers. These are residents of Otodo Gbame rendered homeless by the heartless governor of Lagos. It was a mixed ruling. The judge said demolition should stop but could not commit Ambode to prison because he enjoys immunity. But indicated that he would have done so under any other circumstances. But did not also commit others arguing that they were following the orders of Ambode who has immunity! Can you beat that argument! I kill someone and because I was following the orders of the governor who has immunity then I suddenly also have immunity. The entire government also has immunity" Mr Simon said.

Meanwhile, a report by Ynaija on twitter says the court described the action of the Lagos government as reprehensible..Photos from the protest below
