NDLEA Arrests Two Brazilians With 23kg Cocaine At Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos

Two Brazilians, male and female have been arrested while trying to smuggle over 23kg of cocaine into the country via the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos state.

The duo got nabbed by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) during a screening of passengers who alighted from an Emirates Airlines flight.

NDLEA Operatives were said to have discovered a white substance packed inside food cans, which eventually tested positive for cocaine.

Dias Dos Santos Marcia Cristina, a 36-year-old lady, was found with 9.4kg of cocaine while Lima Pereira Erick Diego, a 20-year-old young man was found with 14.465kg of cocaine, according to a report by Sahara Reporters

The NDLEA spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju disclosed in a terse statement that the Brazilian nationals, who travelled from São Paulo, Brazil claimed to be tourists.

"The drugs were carefully hidden in food cans inside their luggage. The total weight of the cocaine seizure was 23.865kg with an estimated street value of N310 million" Mitchell said.

Mr. Ofoyeju indicated that the Brazilian nationals would be charged to court.
